November Highlights
To help you get through the long dark evenings of November we have 2 very different events planned for the restaurant.
On Friday 14th November starting at 7.30pm we are doing a Taste of Essex evening featuring all Essex grown produce. The menu has been brought to you by Ashlyns Organics chief chef Simon Owen in conjunction with the team at the restaurant Danny, Nick and Penny.
On the evening of 20th November at 7.00pm Dr Tim Gardiner is giving an illustrated talk on the insects of Ashlyns Organic Farm at the Restaurant. Tickets are £12.50 per person. This includes a 2 course meal and a glass of wine.
Dr Gardiner has been conducting a survey throughout the summer to see if there are more butterflies, bumble bees and dragonflies etc on our organic farm than on similar conventional farms. His findings have been published; this evening will enable you to hear the findings from the man himself in a fully illustrated presentation.
On the same evening we have an exhibition of photographs taken on the farm by Clive Layton. Clive is a very talented photographer. He has been photographing the farm and our activities on it for some time. The results are stunning.
Christmas Meats
We are now taking orders for Christmas meat. Please order as soon as possible t o avoid disappointment. Remember we are not only talking turkey, the butchery is able to provide a full range of meat including beef, gammons etc (both locally produced and organic).
As for the last couple of years our Organic Bronze turkeys are supplied by Kelly’s at Braintree. They are reared by more than one organic farmer in East Anglia, many by Matt Unwin at Longwood Farm. The quality and presentation through Kelly’s is second to none. Price for organic is £10.95/kg. We can also supply local free range non organic turkeys which will be cheaper.
Christmas at Ashlyns
The Restaurant is doing a full Christmas menu throughout December running in tandem with the regular menus. We can take bookings for groups for lunch and evenings. Please ring the Restaurant for more details and to make reservations, 01992 52 444 1
